Space tricks
Space is a place where wonders merge with reality. When we think of magic tricks,…
Once upon a time (before we started arguing about how many holes a salt shaker has), humanity came up with two magic phrases:
And all would be well, but here’s the problem: some are sure that they are the same thing. Let’s figure out this confusing geographical puzzle. Perhaps, at the same time, we’ll figure out what came first – the egg or the chicken.
So, let’s start with the basics. “Around the world” sounds solid and ambitious. Just like you’re going to repeat Magellan’s feat, or at least follow Jules Verne’s route. It’s all serious: grab a compass, a globe, polish your boots, and head out to meet the horizon.
And what about “a trip around the world”? You must admit, it sounds a little more romantic. As if it is not strict explorers who set off on a journey, but dreamers who want to caress the equator and stand at the North Pole. There is something light and cheerful about it. As if the whole world is one big carousel, and you decided to ride it.
If you dig deeper, it becomes clear: the difference is in the words themselves. “Krugosvetnoe” comes from the word “krug” (circle). That is, you know for sure that you will make a complete closure of the route. But “around the world”? There are options here. You can fly diagonally around the Earth or even go on an imaginary journey on the couch. The main thing is to ride around the world in your understanding.
So, it turns out that a round-the-world trip is when you really and strictly follow the route, and around the world is when it touches your soul. In essence, the difference is like between a GPS navigator and a map drawn on a napkin in a cafe.
Remember Captain Nemo and his Nautilus? He would have said: “Around the world is a challenge, a route and an honor!” And Jack Sparrow with his compass that points to the heart’s desire would definitely choose “around the world” – and somewhere between the Caribbean and Greenland he would lose track of the days.
So historically both options are quite viable. Just choose what is closer to you: accuracy or romance.
In fact, there is one more nuance. If your competitor called his game “Travel Around the World”, and you called yours “Round the World Trip”, then for Google these are different things. But not for real travelers! They know for sure: the main thing is not the name, but the adventures.
So, friends, remember: no matter what you call your journey, it will definitely be unique. After all, everyone has their own route, their own compass, and their own dream. And words… Well, let them remain for search engines and philologists.
Want to feel like a pioneer? Go on a round-the-world trip. Dream of flying around the planet on the wings of fantasy? Choose a trip around the world. The main thing is to set off!
